I do love hearing how bass excels in World Music and Michael Olatuja’s album “Lagos Pepper Soup” is a special treat with both upright and electric bass performances.
Michael captures the essence of West African “Afrobeats” and blends them with Jazz. He has brought in a stellar collection of musicians and vocalists to support this project, many of whom have shared the pit or stage performing with him in New York. There are strings, percussion, harp, harmonica, electric guitar, and much more. The list of vocalists alone is a star-studded roster.

The diversity of rhythms and tempos in the dozen tracks included in this album are exciting and yet beautifully polished and refined without losing any of the driving characteristics that make you want to get up and move. You can expect Michael to dazzle you with his precise grooving and the cool choices he makes when he solos.
This album is a must hear for world music and bass fans!
