ALBUM ON OUR – Christian McBride Big Band: For Jimmy, Wes and Oliver

Christian McBride Big Band: For Jimmy, Wes and Oliver is an album filled with classic Jazz from back in the ’60s, as recorded by organist Jimmy Smith, guitarist Wes Montgomery and featured arrangements for a big band by the great Oliver Nelson.

With Christian at the helm laying down impeccable bass, this seventeen-piece band delivers these tunes the way you want to hear them, with excellent performances. There are some tunes where we are treated to a smaller combo format but you will be blown away by Christian’s meticulous upright playing throughout the album.

Overall, this band is super-tight!

If you have ever sat through big band Jazz (usually at your kid’s school), you will realize that THIS is how big band music is supposed to sound and you will find yourself tapping your toes to this swinging ensemble before you realize it.

Jazz Fans must hear this one!
