In ‘Who Knows’, Janos Koolen, bassist Lucas Beukers and Arthur Bont have embarked on a musical journey through time and space and got lost between all genres. They may have left a message in their music, but probably not.
‘Who Knows’ by the trio The Whereabouts is an instrumental album with all original compositions. All pieces were recorded live in Studio Doornenburg on electric guitar, bass guitar and drums.
The Whereabouts – Deus Ex Machina:
The musicians of The Whereabouts have years of experience in accompanying all kinds of artists such as Mick Taylor, Frédérique Spigt, Fay Lovsky, Gé Reinders and Frank Montis. Janos, Lucas and Arthur are well attuned to each other and the friendship resounds on this album. You can hear influences from Bill Frisell, Julian Lage and Marc Ribot, but the music is mainly unique. The starting point of the album are strong melodic compositions with a cinematic character and plenty of room for improvisation.
