Introduction to Bass Chords Part 1 – Lessons For Bass Guitar Series…

This bass guitar lesson is for intermediate players

In this lesson, we take a look at a few different ways to play some basic chords/stacked 5ths. We will incorporate the tremolo technique that we added in the prior lesson. The stacked 5ths and 7th chords are a really great way to step up your playing and offer a different and possibly a new direction for your bass playing.

This lesson features the 7th chords Major/Minor and Dominant as well as a Stacked 5th. The chords in this lesson are built off of a Root 3rd, 10th, and a 7th; no 5th will be played. Example C, E, and B (marked in red) whereas the stacked 5th is a Root 5 and a fifth of the 5 (marked in blue), example C, G, and D. Or think of this also as a root 5th and 9th. This is a fun way to add some different flavors to your bass parts.
