Rudiments For Slap Bass – Lessons For Bass Guitar Series…

In this Rudiments For Slap Bass lesson, I want to show you how I developed my slap technique on the bass by applying the rudiments. The idea of ??all this is to prepare our thumb to correctly play any rhythmic figure.

The exercises that I will be presenting below are based on the A Major scale. The idea is that you practice them with all scales, modes and including arpeggios, from triads, 7th chords, etc. So let’s start with the exercises.

Example 1 – Quarter notes up and down the scale.

Example 2 – Eighth notes up and down the scale.

Example 3 – Sixteenth notes up and down the scale.

Example 4 – Triplets up and down the scale.

In the following exercises, I will be playing different combinations with the eighth and sixteenth notes in the A Major scale one octave up and down.

Example 5 – Two sixteenth notes with one eighth note up and down the scale.

Example 6 – One eighth note with two sixteenth notes up and down the scale.

Example 7 – One sixteenth note, one eighth note and one sixteenth note up and down the scale.

Remember… Practice each exercise slowly, and then gradually increase the speed. Always practice with a metronome or a drum machine.
