Bassists Pierluigi Balducci & Vincenzo Maurogiovanni, CINEMA, vol. 2…

In the second chapter of their “film trilogy”, Pierluigi Balducci and Vincenzo Maurogiovanni, well-known Italian jazz bassists, continue to explore the world of emotions linked to soundtracks.

With passion and sensitivity, combined with the lightness and humor that distinguishes their concerts, the two dedicate themselves to some themes dear to them, from those of the great American cinema (Gran Torino or the Flintstones) to those related to Italian cinema: the great Morricone by Bianco Rosso and Verdone or the Armando Trovajoli by Matrimonio all’italiana, the “Sicilian” theme of L’Uomo di Vetro and even a tribute to the Italian sexy comedy of the 80s.

In this vol. 2, however, the two bassists welcome three great guests on different tracks: the singer Marco Giuliani, the bandoneonist Gianni Iorio and the historic Californian saxophonist Paul McCandless. It is he who interprets the melodies of the only two original pieces of the work, characterized by a great evocative force and conceived as real “music for an imaginary film”.

Without a doubt, Balducci and Maurogiovanni make the electric bass an all-round expressive instrument, surpassing its boundaries and making its contours disappear, to paint musical landscapes full of interaction and moments of lyricism.
