BASS LINES: The Taste of the Root and the 5th in Latin Music – Part II

Hello bass players and fans of bass playing! In this issue, we are going to study the use of the Root and the 5th in Latin Music.

You can play the Latin bass and its respective tumbaos with only the root and the 5th of the chord.  In this second part (view part 1 here), we are going to play the different examples and variations that you can apply in your performance.  For now, we’re just going to focus on playing the fifth below the root. Learn these different patterns and play them in your grooves, always keeping in mind the chord you’re playing on, so you can apply this concept correctly.
