on

Hello bass players and fans of bass playing! In this issue we are going to study the use of scales for grooving.

When we’re talking about the Blues, we must understand that there are several scales to improvise and make great solos.

For example, we all know the Blues scale, but we must understand that when we talk about this scale, we are referring to the Blues Minor scale. Of all the scales, this is the most used in the Blues.

Each scale has its specific color that characterizes it, therefore, it is important to know its structure and use through its formulas.

The Minor Blues Scale Formula:
1-b3-4-b5-5-b7

The Major Blues Scale Formula:
1-2-b3-3-5-6

The Mixolydian Mode Formula:
1-2-3-4-5-6-b7

The Mixo-Blues Scale Formula:
1-2-b3-3-4-#4-5-6-b7

* It is very important to clarify that when we refer to the Mixo-Blues Scale, it is the same as saying the Blues Composite Scale.
