BASS LINES: The Mixolydian Mode for 6-String Bass
Hello bass players and fans of bass playing! This month we will study the Mixolydian mode for 6-string bass.
The Mixolydian mode is the major scale with the seventh note lowered a half step. It has a blues feel.
The Mixolydian mode contains the root, the major 2nd, the major 3rd, the perfect 4th, the perfect 5th, the major 6th and the Minor 7th. It works over dominant seventh and dominant ninth chords. This mode is perfect for Blues, Country, Rockabilly, Rock, Funk, etc.
