Three-Note Per String Scales – The Benefits

Published

on

Hello bass players and fans of bass playing! This month we are going to study the three-note per string scales.

This technique, organize a scale’s notes onto the bass fretboard by placing three notes on each string. This system helps to understand and play scales across the entire fretboard.

The Three-note per string scales will help you to:

– Master the fretboard
– Break out the box
– Develop more melodic ideas (licks, sequences, phrasing, etc.)
– Break the linear patterns
– Play great string skipping
– Improve your legato(hammer-ons & pull-offs)
– Play fast runs easier
– Etc.

* “I love how this pattern rearranges scales and how practical it can be for your overall playing.” – Jaime David Vazquez
