New Gear: Ohana Custom Electric Bass

Ohana Music today announced the new Ohana Custom Electric Bass, an impressive addition to their budding electric lineup. Ohana, known as a pioneer and pillar of ukuleles, has used their attention to detail and innovative spirit to deliver a well-rounded bass capable of meeting the needs of demanding pro players and budding students alike. This versatile short-scale bass comes from the Ohana Custom Shop in Long Beach, CA, where every unit is handcrafted and tested to ensure a personal touch and the best possible quality for every instrument.

Although primarily a ukulele brand, Ohana is no stranger to basses. The OBU-22 Short-Scale Acoustic-Electric bass has been a fan-favorite for years, and its new fully-electric counterpart is a welcome option for bass players seeking Ohana quality in an amplified package.

Ohana’s new electric bass comes fresh on the heels of the Ohana Custom Electric Ukulele, another creation of master builder Brad Kahabka which was released earlier this year to universal acclaim, with Alex Beds of @UkesWithAlex and Southern Ukulele Store in the UK stating “Hand on heart, this is the best solid-body electric ukulele I’ve ever played.” As the Custom Electric series gained recognition, Ohana developed the Custom Electric Bass to bring the craftsmanship of its Custom Shop to even more musicians.

“We started getting a lot of requests for a solid body electric bass, and I wanted to make something that was more portable than a short scale bass but is just as refined as a standard size instrument. The bass we’ve developed travels well, feels great to play, and is a tool for advanced bassists as well as people looking to transition to bass from smaller instruments like uke or guitar.” Brad Kahabka, Ohana Master Luthier
