Premiere: Bass Playthrough – HARVESTED’S, Gathered and Deluded From the Album Dysthymia
Check out this killer bass playthrough from Ottawa-based death metal band Harvested, featuring the insanely talented bassist Eric Forget! The video showcases Eric’s crushing tone and technical precision in support of the band’s latest album, Dysthymia, released this past August.
Eric cites legendary bassists Alex Webster (Cannibal Corpse) and Derek Boyer (Suffocation) as key influences on his playing style. To achieve his thunderous low-end, he uses a Dingwall NG2 5-string tuned to Drop A, paired with Neural DSP’s Darkglass for that razor-sharp tone and brutal clarity.
If you’re a fan of technical, groove-heavy death metal bass work, this is one you don’t want to miss.
About Dysthymia:
“This album is an evolution of the band’s sound and showcases our musical abilities more than what we presented with the 2022 EP debut. We kept the lyrical theme consistent and touched on the “brutal” realities of mental illness without emphasizing senseless gore as much. It’s a level up in production, songwriting, and musical prowess, so this album will be what Harvested is all about. Heavy, aggressive, in-your-face experience; riffs that hook and engage the listener and keep them wanting more. Lyrically, we wanted to maintain the brutality but with a psychological aspect to it as opposed to exclusively encompassing gore. – Harvested
