Take 6… The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Share

Review by Editor Jake Kot -

Tis the season to hear an outstanding version of the Xmas classics by music’s undisputed top vocal entourage, Take 6. Personally, I’ve reached that “I’m not sure if I want to hear yet another rendition of these tunes” kind of mindset. But the talent, harmonic integrity, and pure soul of what the Grammy winning Take 6 is capable of re-opened that door for me to consider, and they most certainly didn’t let me down.

The vocal arrangements (as well as the delivery) are as always outstanding, and their inherent sense of unique harmonic complexity carefully added to these classics will absolutely put this CD beyond the stereotypical “Xmas music in the background vibe” for the listener. Claude McKnight of Take 6 stated that beautiful melodies always lend themselves to really great vocal arrangements, and the ageless melodies of the Xmas classics truly let that marriage happen, and provides us with a seriously refreshing musical change to a bit of a worn out musical tradition.
