Bass Player Mike Viscglia Bares His Teeth with Paper Robots
Bass Player Mike Viscglia Bares His Teeth with Paper Robots… After more than a 25 year career as a premier bassist in the singer/songwriter world to the likes of Suzanne Vega, Dar Williams, Jackson Browne, Jonatha Brooke, Phoebe Snow, Bette Midler and even Bruce Springsteen, Mike Visceglia is revealing his ‘less sensitive’ side with the premier of a new power rock band/jam band- “Paper Robots.” Paper Robots is led by award winning Israeli guitarist Zak Soulam. Their new CD is a who’s who of rhythm section stars including Jerry Marotta, Omar Hakim, Nir Z and Joe Franco on drums and Bashiri Johnson on percussion. In addition to Mike on bass you can also hear Will Lee, Tim LeFebvre and Andy Hess. Keys on the record are played Danny Louis of Government Mule. The formidable Chrissi Poland is the sole vocal guest. But the live band has a different lineup including Daniel A Weiss on keys and the ferocious Anton Fig on drums. The music is mostly instrumental but muscular and arena ready. The philosophy of the band is to have very structured sections integrated with lots of room to improvise- including the singers. In addition to the core group there will always be special guest vocalists and instrumentalists at the shows and lots of surprises. Picture Pink Floyd meets Jeff Beck meets Queen and throw in some world music influences and you can imagine the sound of “Paper Robots.”
