Bass Education

raul amadorApril 2013 Editors Letter, Bass Education… Greetings to all from the great North West! The progressively longer days, emerging buds on trees, flowers and glimmers of sunshine finally working through our usual cloud-covered skies suggest that Spring is finally here! As the new season arrives we start to increase our activity levels and get busy cleaning and taking on new projects; isn’t it the perfect time to engage in some self-improvement? Maybe it is time for some continued bass education; Bass Musician Magazine has some excellent possibilities to get you headed in the right direction.

For those of you that are looking for an interactive educational experience with one of the icons of the bass world, have a look at Artistworks, Artistworks.com. At the ‘Online Bass Campus’, you can learn from Nathan East, John Patitucci, and Missy Raines, each in their particular area of expertise (Rock & Pop, Jazz and Bluegrass respectively).

For those of you that are in a self-help mode, don’t forget to explore Bass BooksBassBooks.com! There is a vast selection of Bass Music books to meet your every need.

Welcoming another new VIP…  If you are looking for an APP to train your ear and help you learn music, while doing less reading, you need to check out Dodecagon, thedodecagon.com! My explanation could not do justice to the scope of the APP’s capabilities, so you will have to see it for yourself.

While you are busy training, don’t forget how important your hands are. What better tool than The Pocket Picker, thepocketpicker.com? Work both hands to improve your strength and precision while you go about your daily life!

As always, we encourage you to visit all our VIP Member sites and patronize them, as they are great supporters of the Bass community and help to bring you amazing bass content month-after-month.

Lastly, if you haven’t ordered you very own Bass Musician Magazine T-Shirt you still can! What is more, they will make yours especially for you! Wear your magazine’s colors with pride… better yet, take a picture of yourself in your T and post it on our Facebook page or Instagram!

Happy Spring!
