Paul Haynes – Electric Bass Guitar Volume 1
Paul Haynes – Electric Bass Guitar Volume 1… The legendary Ron Carter has referred to Paul Haynes as “…a unique voice in the world of bass guitar.” And Jazz Improv Magazine has deemed his playing “…a refreshing change from the compulsion of bassists who wish to ‘out-pastorize’ Jaco.”
Paul Haynes has been playing the bass for nearly twenty-seven years. Having won best bassist five times in a row (1987-1991) during South Texas’s “Battle of the Bands,” his 1989 solo bass effort, The Tenth Planet, remains legendary amongst the musicians of the southwestern region of Texas. Utilizing the pseudonym Tubman Atnimara, he performed for five years throughout New York City as a successful part of its Underground Free-Jazz scene. Currently teaching in Texas and living in Mexico, his latest CD, Electric Bass Guitar Vol. 1, is nothing short of a revelation.
With influences as diverse as John Paul Jones, Sonny Rollins, Geezer Butler, Dizzy Gillespie, Cliff Burton, Oscar Pettiford, Stanley Clarke, Stuart Hamm, Charlie Parker, Billy Sheehan, Miles Davis, and Thelonious Monk, just to name a few, you know you’re in for a listening experience like none other!
His CDs, Slavery Suite and Yardbird’s Blues (both as Tubman Atnimara), and Electric Bass Guitar Vol. 1, are currently available through a variety of internet retailers, including Amazon.com, the iTunes music store, and cdbaby.com.
