2022 Masterbuilt Collection…

Fender Musical Instruments Corporation (FMIC) today – alongside the Fender Custom Shop, the Jackson Custom Shop, the Charvel Custom Shop and the Gretsch Custom Shop – announced the launch of their annual 2022 Masterbuilt collections. With a reputation for creating the world’s finest and most-innovative custom guitars for artists, players and collectors, FMIC’s esteemed Custom Shops demonstrate the utmost quality and craftsmanship through their roster of gifted master builders.

Each year, the Fender Custom Shop’s respected Master Builders are given the opportunity to create a one-of-a-kind guitar with zero limits.

This year, the Fender Custom Shop Masterbuilders are revealing their Custom Collection and Limited Edition models. Available beginning this September at authorized Fender Custom Shop Showcase Dealers, the Winter Masterbuilt Collection for bass includes:

CUSTOM P BASS® SPECIAL – RELIC® MASTERBUILT BY DAVE BROWN, AGED NATURAL ($9,550.00 USD)

The P Bass®, with its legendary tone, has been the go-to for many gigging musicians. However, Brown understands that all players and their tone is unique; for him,  modifying and customizing stock instruments to suit their needs is all part of the fun. As such, this P Bass® guitar features many “customizations” including a Jazz Bass® bridge pickup, individual volume controls for each pickup and a side-mounted jack to facilitate a master tone control on the pickguard. Highlighted specs include Josefina Hand-Wound ’75 Jazz Bass® (Bridge), ’65-’70 P Bass® (Middle) Pickups, RSD Designed HiMass Bridge and Vintage-Style “Lollipop” Tuning Machines. The Custom P Bass® Special – Relic® Masterbuilt By Dave Brown, Aged Natural comes with a deluxe hardshell case, Custom Shop strap and certificate of authenticity.

CUSTOM ’51 P BASS® – JOURNEYMAN RELIC® MASTERBUILT BY VINCENT VAN TRIGT, ONE-OF-A-KIND BLACK TOP WITH TOBACCO SIDES & BACK ($9,525.00 USD)

Inspired by the sound of the H22 Gold Foil Pick-Up recreated by Curtis Novak, Vincent Van Trigt aspired to build a P Bass® to match its old-school vibe. The unique wood combination of Okume and Maple, in combination with the pickup, gives the player vintage tones that are different from the original Fender® basses while the mute adds more tonal possibilities. Featured specs include 3-Piece Select Okoume Body with White Pearloid Top Binding,  1-Piece Quartersawn Maple Neck with ’60 Style Jazz Bass® “U” Back-Shape, 3-Ply White Pearl Pickguard, RSD Designed HiMass Bridge with Custom String Mute and Gotoh RES-O-LITE Tuning Machines. Vincent Van Tright’s Custom ‘51 P Bass® comes with a deluxe hardshell case, Custom Shop strap and certificate of authenticity.

Where do you go when your dream guitar is a Charvel® guitar and money is no object? To Charvel’s USA Custom Shop.

We build the very best of the top-line best for the world’s greatest artists and also, for you. Many of the talented craftsmen who founded the shop are still a part of our valued team, creating the epitome of Charvel® style and performance. Available beginning this September the following models are built to order:

CHARVEL CUSTOM SHOP SO CAL BASS, FRANK BELLO SIGNATURE MODEL, PASQUALE CAMPOLATTANO ($5,999.99 USD)

The bass includes a quartersawn maple neck, block inlays, hipshot tuners and a brass nut. The gloss black alder body features Bello’s custom EMG pickup set, Hipshot Hi-Mass Bridge and this custom mirrored pickguard that really stands out.
