Eternal Rocker, John Lodge: March 2022 Issue

Bassist John Lodge…

The Moody Blues have been one of the most iconic, prolific bands of our time. I remember hearing “Nights in White Satin” as a teen and marveling at such a dramatic, yet very cool sound.

Over the decades the band has kept us rocking and bassist and Rock-and-Roll Hall of Fame inductee, John Lodge has been the superb powerhouse. He wrote many of their songs, held down the low-end with his instrument, and elevated the high-end with his vocals. Now, many years later, John is treating us to brand new music while keeping the Moody Blues legacy alive.

Join me as we hear about John’s musical journey, his recently released album, how he coped during the shutdown, and his plans for the future.

In These Crazy Times (released July 2020, and recorded by John in isolation).

John wrote and recorded the song himself using Garageband, and plays all instruments.  He then invited his wife to sing backing vocals and son on guitar.  Jon Davison also sings backing vocals.  A truly family affair… and great comfort during the pandemic, even though we were all separated by many miles (and continents!)
