Comprised of Rob Gourlay, Jim Stinnnett, Grant Stinnett (father & son) & the elastic Michael Manring. While, admittedly, a bass quartet may not be everyones cup of tea, few could do it better than these guys. Each player here has their own voice within the group, although it is not always easy to tell who is doing what, it is most assuredly interesting to try! Of special mention here is Grant Stinnett. Although still very young and having not even played the bass for that long, he really stands out and is just a wonderful player. While there are some rocking groove tracks, my personal favorites were the many ethereal ballads. Possibly because this seems the most fitting format with this many bass players, but also because I felt that this was where everyone could really shine. This was when the music really stood on it’s own and where much of the magic contained in here lives. The best way to describe the music is “Manring-esque” in composition and adventurous nature.
