David Bowie Releases New Single, “Blackstar”, Featuring Bassist Tim Lefebvre

Legendary musician David Bowie has released the lead single from his upcoming album, “Blackstar”. The single is the title track of the music icon’s 25th record and features the bass work of Tim Lefebvre. Tim, who was our November 2013 cover interview, is joined on the single by Mark Guiliana on drums, Jason Lindner on keys, and Donny McCaslin on saxes and flutes. Readers may recognize the lineup as the same personnel who recorded McCaslin’s “Casting For Gravity” and “Fast Future” albums.

Regarding the Bowie recording, Tim says, “I’m still pinching myself about having even been in the same room with such a music legend as Bowie. I hope people like this record.”

Along with the work with Bowie, Tim maintains a full schedule of recording and touring, including work with Knower, Wayne Krantz, and Tedeschi Trucks Band.

Best news I’ve heard today. I’ve been saying for years that the one cat who needs to come back is Bowie. I saw him twice in concert and both times he was incredible. Definitely surprised to see all the new musicians playing on the album but I know Tim from Tedeschi Trucks band and I’m sure he brought the grooves that will drive the tunes. Now I’m just praying Bowie goes out on tour. Seeing him live one more time would be so awesome.

Who was the background singer please. Very nice voice but didn’t think it was Gail Ann Dorsey
