Fender Feedback Documentary Series
Fender Feedback Documentary Series
Photo: Ty Dolla $ign
In January 2017, Fender gathered four artists that occupy their own distinct space in the musical landscape and were asked about their creative journeys and how their guitars helped guide them along that path. The four mini documentaries capture each artist in a raw and intimate setting, showing them in their true form.
Episode one of the series features J Mascis in his hometown of Amherst Massachusetts, taking the viewer behind-the-scenes to his practice space at home and personal record collection. The series continues with Southern California band, Local Natives, showing exclusive footage of the group jamming out and then goes into Ty Dolla $ign’s two-minute documentary showcasing his true musical talent on the American Professional Precision Bass. The series finishes up highlighting Mac Miller’s vision as an artist and brings the viewer into his home and personal recording studio.
To view the four Fender Feedback Documentary Series videos, please see below:
- J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr.– Mascis explains his give and take relationship with the guitar, and his penchant for jazz-inspired yet punk-desired American Professional Jazzmaster in Mystic Seafoam.
- Local Natives– Watch as you learn that the band does not have any formal music training, and as they were able to craft their own rules and techniques. The band is shown playing the American Professional Jazzmaster in Mystic Seafoam, American Professional Precision Bass in Antique Olive and the American Professional Jaguar in Sonic Gray.
- Ty Dolla $ign– Ty discusses his musical journey, from starting with cassette tape loops, to his first bass and his constant search for organic sound sources. Ty is shown playing the American Professional Precision Bass in Antique Olive.
- Mac Miller– Immersing himself in guitar playing as a mode of self-discovery, Pittsburgh-bred rapper/producer Mac Miller uses music as a means of communicating without the need for words. Mac is shown playing the American Professional Telecaster in Olympic White and the American Professional Precision Bass in Antique Olive.
