In His Own Words, Bill “The Buddha” Dickens: June 2022 Issue…

Bill Dickens - Bass Musician Magazine - June 2022

If you look up Bill “The Buddha” Dickens on our website you will find that we have been paying close attention to this amazing musician’s work for many years. He graced our special ERB bassist edition, we reviewed his album “Tha Truth” and have been in close contact over the years at NAMM shows.

You might be familiar with his work with Pat Metheny, George Michael, Joe Zawinul, Janet Jackson, Grover Washington, Jr., Chaka Khan, Mary J. Blige, Freddie Hubbard, Al Di Meola, (and many more), as well as his online lessons with TruFire… but there is a much larger story to this artist.

In 2022, Bill is busy as ever with a ton of interesting projects in the works. As a matter of fact, there was so much great content here, we made this a three-part series!

Join me as we talk about Bill’s musical trajectory, his gear, plans for the future and much more.

CrystalBright Rombo Picks

PR Sample

Playing bass with a pick is still a touchy subject in our community. I believe you should be able to use whatever you need to get your sound. Even though I mostly play with my fingers, I like to check out innovative new picks that might have something new to offer, sonically speaking.

Judith and Carlos from Rombo recently contacted me about a new material called CrystalBright that they have been researching for the last 12 months and offered to send some prototype picks. After trying them out, I put together this video with my findings.

Working-Class Zeros: Episode #2 – Financial Elements of Working Musicians

These stories from the front are with real-life, day-to-day musicians who deal with work life and gigging and how they make it work out.
